How's this for a custom van trip?![images.jpg]()
British pop group One Direction is adding a special element to its upcoming tour of the United States. Harry and company will be bopping between cities in a Scooby Doo van, which has been specially customized at a cost of $107,000. The van is currently undergoing its transformation in an Enfield facility and is expected to be completed in six weeks time.
Along with Scooby Doo, the band will have its distinctive logo, 1D, stamped on the van, which will be sporting blue and green colors. Other plans include individual consoles for entertainment and a gigantic plasma television screen that will take up the entire wall behind the driver's position. Other technology in the van will make it a truly state-of-the-art vehicle.
A source close to the band and the project stated that the members are big fans of cartoons and consider Scooby Doo to be a cult classic. They wanted something extra special for the US tour and came up with the idea of creating the van. The band members are excited about the project and are eager to have it shipped to the US as soon as possible. It is expected to make a big splash with not only the fans, but also their mothers and other older relatives.
The source went on to say that if the band's management found the van to be too costly or impractical, it would be used to transport the group between gigs in the UK.
The inspiration for the vehicle appears to come from The Beatles and the bus used in the 1967 "Magical Mystery Tour" film.
The One Direction 2013 tour of the United States begins on June 13, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and will conclude on August 13 in Los Angeles, with two performances at the Staples Center.
